Well, afteer about a month of not doing anything on the KILLBEETLE project, I got a bur in my A$$, and started doing some more. It's simply amazing how small a car really is when you make the pieces fit together more compactly.
This part won't be nearly as entertaining as the "emptying" phase, but there's an opportunity or two, in the distruction of this car, that I want to take, to show a few folks what it looks like in strange places when you start cutting up a Beetle.
This time around I enlisted the help of my 14 yr old daughter, who after a few minutes and an introduction to the POWER TOOLS, got a bit more excited about helping.
I'd like to note that Syd (my daughter ) is the photographer in a lot of these pictures so she won't be the first thing you see. However I wanted to show you how I did the fender removal and all of the more intricate cutting by demonstration.
It doesn't look like I'm doing much in the first two pictures, but I am actually cutting a nice little line not much bigger than a sixteenth of an inch. This small incision proves favorable later on also.I figure for those who have no idea what one is,............. this is where I should show the airsaw
huh?.........................
OK there it is, picture number three............save it in your viewer and enlarge the picture a bit It's an awesome piece of equipment if you use it properly.
